How to Make a Full Set of Netherite God Armor in Minecraft 1.21

One of the greatest travesties in Minecraft is the removal of God Armor.

You see, achieving the best armor setup in Minecraft can significantly enhance your survivability and effectiveness in the game. A set of stacked protection god armor can protect you from point blank explosions, 100's of block falls, and minutes swimming in lava.

What I wouldn't give to have a set of god armor in my Hardcore Minecraft world.

Unfortunately since the 1.14 Update removed stacking protection enchantments, classic god armor is no longer possible... Unless you employ some trickery.

In this guide I'll outline how to enchant a full set of Netherite armor to maximize your protection, including both the optimal configuration for Minecraft 1.21 and a method to obtain "God Armor" with stacked protections from earlier versions.

Understanding God Armor

God Armor is a term used to describe an armor set with stacked protections. (For Example: This means you could apply Blast Protection and Fire protection, greatly enhancing your survivability.)

While technically no longer available in Minecraft since version 1.14, there are ways to acquire it through a bit of game manipulation. For players who prefer to stick with the current version, a powerful set of armor can still be crafted and enchanted.

How to Craft the Best Armor in Minecraft 1.21:

(Not Quite God Armor)

Netherite smithing template

Starting with The Netherite:

To craft the best armor in Minecraft 1.21, players need a Netherite smithing template. Obtaining Netherite involves:

  1. Finding a Netherite Smithing Template: These templates can be located in bastion remnants in the Nether. This requires a bit of exploring, luckily each bastion guarantees at least one template.

  2. Combining Items at a Smithing Table: Use the Netherite smithing template along with a Netherite ingot and a piece of diamond armor to create your Netherite armor.

Adding Designs Through Smithing Tables:

In the latest version, players can also customize their armor's appearance. This is done using various smithing templates to add designs, which can be paired with valuable gems like diamonds or lapis.

Enchanting Your Armor:

On top of netherite armor's inherent attributes (greater armor points and knockback reduction) Enchantments provide additional benefits that can greatly enhance armor performance.

To avoid the "too expensive" notification when applying multiple enchantments, consider using this handy website that suggests the optimal order and requirements for enchanting.

(It's probably my favorite Minecraft tool by far)

Here’s the recommended set of enchantments for each piece of armor:

Helmet

  • Protection IV

  • Thorns III

  • Unbreaking III

  • Mending

  • Aqua Affinity

  • Respiration III

Chest Plate

  • Protection IV

  • Thorns III

  • Unbreaking III

  • Mending

This piece absorbs the most damage, so ensuring it has maximum protection is crucial.

Netherite Leggings

  • Protection IV

  • Thorns III

  • Unbreaking III

  • Mending

  • Swift Sneak III (This enchantment is particularly useful for mobility when sneaking around and building)

Netherite Boots

  • Protection IV

  • Thorns III

  • Unbreaking III

  • Mending

  • Soul Speed III

  • Feather Falling IV

  • Depth Strider III

Choosing Depth Strider over Frost Walker is recommended for enhanced movement in water and it won't break your redstone contraptions.

This set is the best armor you can make in the current update. If you want true God Armor however, we need to dive into a little bit of game manipulation.

Creating True God Armor Through Version Switching:

If you want to get true God Armor you have to be willing to manipulate the game to do so.

It's relatively easy, so just make a backup and follow this process:

(Note: You have to start in 1.14, reverting versions deletes your inventory. Also to my knowledge this is only available in Java Edition.)

  1. Start in Minecraft 1.14: Create a world in this version and find a nearby village. You want one close to spawn.

  2. Keep The Render Distance Low: Limit rendering to 4-5 chunks to prevent biome changes in future updates. You can get some really funky world gen if you don't do this. which could be a pro or a con I guess.

  3. Trade with Villagers: Trade sticks with fletchers for emeralds and get these enchanted books from villagers (In addition to the list up top)

    Blast Protection IV x 4

    Fire Protection IV x 4

    Projectile Protection IV x 4

  4. Combine Enchantments: Use Mending, Unbreaking, and Thorns along with the additional protections to enhance your armor. Use the enchantment website from earlier to prevent that too expensive notification.

  5. Congrats. You've done the hard part.

  6. Now Upgrade the World: Gradually update your world version by opening and closing it in each version from 1.14 to 1.21, taking precautions against potential world corruption by backing up your world regularly. So go from 1.14 to 1.15, 1.15 to 1.16, and so on. Try not to move to much so as not to corrupt your world.

After successfully navigating through each version, You should have a complete set of stacked God Armor in Minecraft 1.21. Excellent right? Enjoy being fundamentally unkillable. unless you're up against a baby zombie of course, RIP Philza.

So that's it:

By following this guide, you can craft and enchant an exceptionally powerful set of armor in Minecraft 1.21. Whether you choose to stick with the natural set in the current version or explore the version switching method for obtaining God Armor, these strategies will significantly increase your survivability and effectiveness in the game.
